Senturion EM1 E4/E16 U4/U16 Why this is Important to An IT Person?
Internal Probes X

No hassles wiring and connecting external temperature and humidity probes saves your valuable time & money.
Room Temperature X

Knowing when the localized temperature climbs above set thresholds allows you to react before a crisis occurs.
Humidity X

Keeping an eye on the localized humidity will let you know if you run the risk of operating your network in an unsafe environment.
Light Level X

This simple but invaluable addition to the system can alert you when unexpected activity occurs at an odd time of day. Is someone in the rack or datacenter when they shouldn't be?
Sound Level X

Being alerted when ambient noise levels change from the "norm" can help alert you to a problem that is about to happen, such as a mechanical failure in a server or an air conditioning unit turning off unexpectedly.

Supported IT External Probes

While temperature is the #1 requirement for environmental monitoring of datacenters, server rooms and network closets, a variety of other probes can be invaluable to spot other trouble areas.
Temperature X X X X It is generally recommended that external temperature probes be placed throughout your server room or network closet to get a more detailed view of hot spots and closer monitoring of air conditioner function.
Temp/Humidity X X
Monitoring temperature and humidity at the same physical locations provides you with important environmental conditions that must be monitored to ensure IT devices are kept within manufacturer's published specifications.
Door Probes X X
X Knowing when a door is open can be an indication of an intrusion. The Senturion provides more information than the EM1 by presenting the data in percentage of time the door was open during a particular time interval.
Power Presence X

Your IT equipment expects to see a relatively stable power source. By monitoring the AC power you not only get a good indication of how much your power fluctuates, but you also can get alerted when there's a loss of AC power so that you can take proactive steps to bring the network down gracefully.
Motion Sensor X

Being alerted when movement is sensed in an area that should be motionless means you can take appropriate action to determine if this is an intruder.
Smoke Detector X

Smoke detectors can be installed anywhere you have IT equipment up and running. For example, knowing that the inside of your equipment rack is not only getting hotter but is also smoking would be a good thing.
Switch Status X

X
This is one of those handy interfaces that find all sorts of useful applications. For example, many UPS's have a relay output to indicate whether or not AC power is present. Simply running a wire between that and our units provides a mechanism for quick notification.
Future Probe Additions X

The Senturion probe interface was designed to accommodate a variety of sensor types. Since the Senturion is also upgradeable over the internet, customers can easily take advantage of new probe types as they become available.

Senturion EM1 E4/E16 U4/U16 Why this is Important to An IT Person?
Alerts

Send Alerts Without PC Software X

Being capable of functioning as a stand alone system allows the user to get up and running quickly and effortlessly.
Local Audible and Visual Alerting X

This makes it very easy to quickly identify what's in an alert state. There is an LED and buzzer which was designed in such a way so that it is instantly obvious something is wrong and needs your attention ASAP.
Email and Cell Phone Alerts X X X X Receiving alerts to cell phones and emails is a must these days. When there's a potential problem brewing you need to know about it fast and receiving alerts multiple ways increases the odds that you'll be found if/when this situation occurs. The Senturion is capable of sending these alerts itself via an SMTP server. Our other products require integration into a Network Monitoring application.
Send SNMP Trap on Alert X

Many customers have a trap receiver "listening" for problems. This makes it very convenient to "tie into" your existing notification system and thus avoiding re-inventing something that already exists.
Alert Scheduling X

Each probe can be configured to alert only during times when it makes sense to avoid false alerting. For example, you likely want to know when the light level in your datacenter goes above a particular threshold, but you probably only want this during the night time hours when the lights should be off. So you simply set up an Alert Schedule and define the start/stop when the probe should initiate alerts.
Acknowledge Alerts Locally X

You may already be in the server room when all of a sudden the unit goes into alarm mode and the local LED and Buzzer alerting gets your attention. Being able to acknowledge the alerts locally tells others that someone is in the server room and is knowledgeable of this event.

Web Interface Features

Upgrade over the Internet X

Provides immediate access to new features, enhancements and bug fixes without the inconvenience of sending the unit back to Sensatronics which keeps your system running 24-7-365.
Totally Web Configurable X

Being able to configure the device from any PC with a browser is convenient and saves you time. No trips to some remote location that is hard to reach. Just type in the IP address of the unit and make changes or check current conditions from wherever you may be.
XML Interface X X X X All Sensatronics products provide a common XML interface which allows you to easily gather the raw data and manipulate it in a way that suites your unique custom application.
Internal Event Logging X

Having a self-contained turnkey system which logs events is essential to providing quick information on what the unit is seeing. This is beneficial for a number of reasons, including helping you to diagnose a problem.
Data Warehouse Server Integration
X X X "Pushing" data using BASE64 encoded XML over HTTP gives you a great mechanism of sending all data to a central server, especially if there is more than one location you are monitoring on multiple wide area networks. Using the "Push" interface is far more secure than polling since there is no need to manipulate firewall settings and allow outside-looking-in access which could potentially open up a security hole. NOTE: This is typically for custom applications.
Auto Refresh X X X X Our monitors with internal web pages have an auto refresh feature which allows for easy viewing of the data in applications where continuous manual monitoring may be necessary.

Admin/Ops/View User Rights X

Each user can be given specific access rights as determined by the administrator thereby giving you control and increased security.
User Changes Logged Internally X

Any alterations to the admin settings, alerting mechanisms, thresholds, or other features are logged and available for viewing

Senturion EM1 E4/E16 U4/U16 Why this is Important to An IT Person?
SNMP Features

SNMP Polling X X X X Monitors allow you to use current SNMP network management software saving you time and improved integration into current processes.
SNMP Traps to Multiple Listeners X X X X Redundancy is important. If one listening server goes down, for example, it's nice to know your environmental monitoring will still function.
SNMP Heartbeat Traps X

A heartbeat trap, while using up more bandwidth than just a single trap upon an event, can be an easy way to ensure the monitor is always functioning and reporting back valid data.
Single OID Keeps Track of # of Alerts X

Save a little bandwidth and only query a single OID. If everything is "OK" then there is no need to test anything further.

Physical Features

Rack Mountable X

Senturion's small height leaves you more room to attach other IT networking equipment to the rack. Fits industry-standard 19" rack enclosures. It's small depth (3.5") allows for placement in the rear of the rack for a "Zero U" space requirement.
Wall Mountable X X X X Built in flanges allow our base monitors to be mounted anywhere, saving you valuable IT rack space. The Senturion is also wall mountable with the addition of our wall bracket.
Integrated Cable Management X

For those of you requiring additional external sensors, having a convenient way to manage all the cables helps keep the area neat. And a neat server rack is safer and makes it easier to manage.
Local Full-Color LCD X

Displaying the local conditions is nice for those times when you happen to be in the server room. The LCD also makes it very obvious when a probe goes into an alert state.
Probes Attach Via Screw Terminals
X X X Screw terminals, while not as convenient as RJ12's for quick connect/disconnect, provide for a solid connection between the probes and the unit.
RJ12 connections for all probes X

Faster installation saves you time to move onto other critical tasks. Simply snap the probes into the connectors and you're done. The unit will identify the probe type and populate the list. You just need to set the thresholds and you are done.
